Unpicking a stitch is one of the things that isn’t really on top of my list. It can be time consuming and slightly frustrating, but as they say – you learn from your mistakes.
Today I wanted to pay attention to the overlock stitch, which may be a strange animal to some. But, if you do have a domestic overlocker, here are a few tips on how to make it all simpler!
THREE THREAD OVERLOCK STITCH:
STEP 1:
- Place your seam so that the right side of the overlock stitch is facing upwards
- Green thread – overlock needle thread
- Pink thread – overlock upper looper thread
- Blue thread – overlock lower looper thread
STEP 2:
- Cut through the needle thread (green) every three stitches
STEP 3:
- Hold upper and lower looper threads (pink and blue) and pull both to unravel your stitch
FOUR THREAD OVERLOCK STITCH:
STEP 1:
- Place your seam so that the right side of the overlock stitch is facing upwards
- White and green threads – overlock needle threads
- Pink thread – overlock upper looper thread
- Blue thread – overlock lower looper thread
STEP 2:
- Cut through both needle threads (white and green) every three stitches
STEP 3:
- Hold upper and lower looper threads (pink and blue) and pull both to unravel your stitch
I hope this tutorial was helpful!
